Injury roundup: Texans lose Ryans for season

Perhaps the most devastating injury of Week 6: The Texans lost MLB DeMeco Ryans (torn Achilles tendon) for the rest of the season.Lions QB Shaun Hill suffered a broken left arm late during the first half and did not return, while OLB Zack Follett was taken to the hospital for observation following a helmet-to-helmet hit  during the fourth quarter. The latest reports on Follett’s condition are all positive.Antonio Gates suffered a left ankle injury late during the first half against the Rams. The Chargers also lost WR Malcom Floyd to a hamstring injury during the fourth quarter.Eagles WR DeSean Jackson suffered a concussion on a violent hit from Falcons CB Dunta Robinson and did not return to the game. Jay Glazer of NFL Network and Fox Sports reports Jackson has a “severe concussion.” Robinson also did not return with what the team called a head injury.The Packers, playing without Clay Matthews, Brandon Chillar and Nick Barnett (out for season), lost OLB Brady Poppinga to a left knee injury.Patriots S Jarrad Page left Sunday’s game against the Ravens with a calf injury and didn’t return. Julian Edelman also suffered a head injury during the second half, according to the team.Bucs RB Kareem Huggins suffered a knee injury during the third quarter against the Saints. The Bucs also lost FB Earnest Graham with a hamstring strain, according to The St. Petersburg Times, and he was unable to return.The Browns lost two receivers against the Steelers, as Joshua Cribbs (head injury) and Mohamed Massaquoi (head injury) left during the second quarter and didn’t return.Bears starting CB Zack Bowman suffered a foot injury against the Seahawks.The Ravens reported two injuries on Sunday: TE Todd Heap (shoulder stinger) and FS Tom Zbikowski (bruised heel). Heap left the game briefly, but returned.The Rams lost WR Mardy Gilyard and FS Darian Stewart to hamstring injuries.Steelers DE Brent Keisel (hamstring) was injured during the first quarter and didn’t return.Cowboys starting LG Kyle Kosier didn’t return following a right Achilles’ strain.Broncos DE Kevin Vickerson (groin), WR Eddie Royal (hamstring) and WR Matthew Willis (foot) sustained injuries against the Jets. The Denver Post reported Willis suffered a broken foot and is scheduled to have surgery.Posted in: News
